Sleep regression at 4 months
A new challenge for your little one:
When your baby turns 6 months old, they enter a fascinating yet challenging period of development. This is a time when their growth accelerates, and changes in their life can lead to difficulties with sleep. The 6-month sleep regression can be particularly challenging, but there are ways to support them.
1. Increased Mobility: Babies become more active, and some may start crawling, which can distract them from sleep;
2. Separation Anxiety: Babies may feel a greater anxiety when they are not close to their parents, leading to more frequent awakenings;
3. Exploring Relationships: At this age, the little one starts to understand how different objects relate to one another and makes connections.
• Maintain Routine: Keep the bedtime routine as consistent as possible to prevent new associations;
• Respect Wake Times: Pay attention to appropriate wake periods for their age;
• Adjust Bedtime: If you notice that daytime naps aren’t enough, you can offer an earlier bedtime;
• Extended Sleep Routine: A longer routine can help the baby overcome separation anxiety;
• Support with Love: Be present for them and offer the support they need without forming new associations.
The 6-month sleep regression can be challenging, but with a little patience and support, your little one will get through this phase. It is important to be consistent, maintain the routine, and enjoy every moment spent together, even during the more difficult nights!
